The Carolina Charter Corporation was established in 1960 to assist the Carolina Charter Tercentenary Commission in its celebration of North Carolina’s 300th birthday.

Since then, the Corporation has aided the North Carolina Office of Archives and History in a variety of way. Most noteworthy are its support of the State Archives’ Overseas Copying Program and the Colonial Records Project.
